VIRGINIA ELITE HOOPS ADULT BASKETBALL (VABL) LEAGUE  RULES

 

LEAGUE PARTICIPATION FEES

League participation fees MUST be paid before the second game. If not team will be removed from the league schedules no excuses.

** SCHEDULE ** 

The VABL game schedule will be posted on the website under the tab ‘Schedule”. All teams are required to provide a point of contact or representative for their team in case of an unexpected occurrence.

 

On-time: It is imperative that teams arrive before their schedule game start time.  There is a 5 min grace time for teams to arrive after their schedule start time post warm-up time. Unless the preceding game goes into overtime games will run back-to-back as schedule.

 

Reschedule Game: Teams cannot call or email to reschedule a game on the day of the game. If a team cannot make their schedule gametime that game will be counted as a forfeit.

 

Forfeits: After 2 forfeits the team will be disqualified from the league. If a forfeit was due to inclement weather or unknown traffic conditions then the forfeit can only be overruled by the commissioner.

 

(48 Hours notification of game cancellation will not result in a forfeit.)

 

** GAMETIME RULES **

Warm-up time: The 8:00pm game will begin after a 10min warm-up then the next game will also have a 10min warm-up time.

 

Games consist of two (2) 20 minute half with the clock stopping in the last 2 minutes of both halves:

 

1st overtime: 3min with clock stopping in the final 2 minutes – Team receives 1 additional timeout

 

2nd overtime: 2min with clock stopping in the final 2 minutes 

 

3rd overtime: 1 minute no clock stopping 

 

NCAA RULES GOVERN THE LEAGUE 3 FULL TIMEOUTS AND 2 30 SEC TIMEOUTS PER GAME 

 

Player Fouls: 6  Team Fouls: 7 & 10  

 

Technical Foul counts as personal foul

 

** OFFICIALS **

The game officials are in charge of the game not the commissioner. Disputes cannot be and will not be handled DURING THE GAME.

 

If a team is having a problem with the official then the team representative must communicate to the commissioner about the problem AFTER the game.

 

The commissioner can remove an official if he deems the officials are not managing the game in a fair an equal manner.

** TEAMS AND PLAYERS **

 

Teams are made up of no more than 15 players.  Only 10 jerseys will be issued for the baseline cost, therefore additional jerseys will cost 10.00 per jersey.

 

Team rosters are final after the second game is played.

 

After the second game teams cannot have a player playing on multiple teams.

 

If a team is short a player and needs to have a player the opposing team will receive 4 technical fouls shots and the ball for that player.

 

All players must have on a VABL game jersey no exceptions:

If you team elects to register without a VABL jersey it is mandatory that all members of the team have on the same jersey with numbers.

The commissioner is NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING TEAM JERSEYS!

 

** CONDUCT **

 

Absolutely no fighting IMMEDIATE EJECTION AND 1 GAME SUSPENSION NO QUESTIONS ASKED!

2 Technical Fouls results in ejection from the game.

 

Player does not have to leave the bench but if the player continues disrupt the game the officials can demand that person leave the gym.

 

Abusive language towards the official, scorekeeper or opposing team will result in a warning, technical and ejection.
