Tina Thompson "She Got Game Classic" Team Rankings
1.
Malcolm X Shabazz H.S. (NJ)
Over
all team speed was very noticeable and gave Archbishop Spaulding
some problems early on in the contest. Every position was will
played and team chemistry was great to see. Quality depth was a
key factor for MXS capturing the win in their first game of
their season.
With
young skilled players in support of the starting lineup when substitutions
were made the pace and the play execution did not suffer.
2.
Archbishop Spalding H.S. (MD)
Coach
Rosemond has another team full of talent, although they fell
short down the streatch to Malcolm X Shabazz take nothing away
for this team they are good. Juniors Camille Calhoun and Jade
Scaife made a strong come back push but little to late.
3.
Forest Park H.S. (VA)
With
senior guard Lexi Carpenter (University of Dayton) nursing flu
like symptoms Breyanan Mason (University of Virginia) took
matters into her hands scoring 39 points and setting a new
tournament scoring record which was just a little too much for St.
Anthony's to make a run for the victory.
4.
Bishop McNamara H.S. (MD)
Senior
Dionna Joynes (Boston University) and Chanice Lee had to make a
late push to overcoming a strong effort from Ursuline Academy
(DE). Late in the game Joynes used several horizontal post
screens to score on several key offensive possessions that ended
up with her team pulling away late in regulation.
5.
Ursuline Academy (DE)
Coach
Noonnan team was well balanced, deceptive and discipline.
The command of their game was remarkable, with outstanding freshman Adrianna Hahn
holding down the ever important point guard position and seniors
Jill Lyons and Meghan Carter this team was absolutely great to
watch from their warm-up routine to their play in competition.
6. St. Anthony's
H.S. (NJ)
Senior
Symone Kelly (Sienna University) finished with 20 points and 10
rebounds that lead the charge for coach Ken Parham team from New
Jersey as they match up against a determined Forest Park team
that was coming off a disappointing district lost in their
district. Along with Kelly is nationally recognized (ESPN
HoopGurlz) Chastity Taylor (2014) and Rebecca Musgrove (2013)
the team was pressing to overcome an early deficit that was not
going to relinquish by Forest Park.
