VA Elite Scouting Services (VESS) is a scouting service that has taken the fundamental approach to evaluating and reporting on young and upcoming basketball players. VESS Scouts use different methods to create and deliver the most detailed evaluation for locating and evaluating the best talent in the Virginia, Washington, DC, Maryland region as well as regional and national camps. 

Additionally, VESS player evaluators will be in attendance at other tournaments and camps to identify players that rightfully deserve an opportunity for their abilities to be acknowledged. Once that information is gathered, VESS leveraging it's network will provide that information to regional and national camp organizers to take those players in consideration for inclusion in their national camp invitations and college coaches to further investigate a player for potential opportunity beyond high school. 

An VESS Scouts will create an evaluation based on their opinion and years of experience, while giving the player’s respective high school coach the opportunity to express their feelings on a player’s potential as well. We want to ensure that we are using all means available to deliver an evaluation that can ultimately land a high school player in the collegiate program that best suits them. Our goal is to provide comprehensive information to colleges and universities that are in search of good student athletes, and ultimately provide an opportunity for high school athletes to extend their playing career beyond high school.

For the colleges and universities, our service not only provides in-depth information on the student athletes, but also creates relationships with players, their families, and coaches as well. Our video component and website allow coaches the ability to access player information and highlight film from any computer. VESS will become an extension of your coaching staff.

VESS Directors of Scouting Services has over 40 years of recruiting, coaching and evaluating players from youth leagues to being involved in the recruiting process as coaches. We take this part of our offerings very serious, providing or referencing players through VESS is as important as providing a personal reference. We offer the deliver good quality STUDENT-ATHLETE who are respectful, have good academic backgrounds, and solid personable skills. 

Erick Green, Director of Scouting and Player Evaluation

Graduate of Keyser High School was All-State football & basketball player and was inducted onto his high school Hall of Fame in 1995. Erick is a graduate of Howard University where he was a member of the football team that won the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship and #1 ranked team in the 1987 in the Sheraton Polls. Erick is employed by the Virginia Department of Community Corrections as a Probation/Parole Officer.  He is also the founder/coach of the Winchester Rising Stars Basketball Program.  Over the years while participating in AAU basketball events his teams success has remarkable winning 10 District Championships, 8 State Championships, 4 Final Four National Championship appearances and 2 National Championships (15u boys 2006 and 13U girls 2008). Erick is the Virginia AAU Shenandoah Valley District Representative and served as the freshmen/assistant varsity basketball coach of Millbrook High School for two years.  Also he trains youth through his "Erick Green Basketball Workshops". Erick and his wife Tami reside in Winchester, VA with their four children and two foster kids.

The 2009 Uncommitted Player - Senior Only
Each year VA Elite Hoops will conduct two Senior only exposure camps (See Event/Camps), targeting the years graduating seniors who are seeking an opportunity to play collegially. This specialized camp created by VEH is design to provide colleges and universities the platform and opportunity find the uncommitted player that has gotten overlooked or hasn't played on the AAU circuit. Throughout the camp VESS will be evaluating senior players based on our comprehensive evaluation criteria and upon the completion of the camp provide our rankings and camp results to attending colleges and university coaches. As seniors VESS evaluation will include academic information as well as other information we deem necessary for colleges and universities to invest their time and effort in recruiting process.

There are many high school players that go unnoticed for one reason or the other. By gathering information about players and seeing players play in high school games and on the AAU circuit our goal is to inform collegiate coaches by providing comprehensive reports and information with hope of bring attention to players that are not normally in the spotlight. There have been many players that go on to professional careers have come out of situation where they have gone under the radar for years and not until they are lucky enough to find someone who can validate their skills they are not discovered until later on or unfortunately not discovered at all. NOW VESS IS THAT RESOURCE!

Camps and Tournaments
VESS will conduct several camps for the elite athletes within different age groups region, giving us a chance to meet and learn about the upcoming prospects. This gives us a chance to see their strengths as well as weaknesses. It also gives us the opportunity to build a solid relationship with the player.

Player information distribution
After each event VESS will distribute events information to it's network of college recruiter seeking players for the next level. This information does not guarantee and individual a scholarship but it will provide coaches information about up and coming players that we feel can play at the collegiate level.
