Ryan Yates has been on the basketball horizon for sometime now. During the 2007-08 season Ryan was a key part of  T.C. Williams capturing the Group AAA State Championship.  The 6"6 lean forward possess a great deal of offensive and defensive talent.  Ryan ability to use his length has elevated his defensive game to another level as well as his offense has benefited from his valuable experience playing on the AAU circuit.

Yates is very a athletic and competitive player as well as he has developed a winning attitude that will he will carry beyond high school.

2008-09 T.C. Williams vs. John Marshall HS

Athleticism: Ryan has good athleticism can play the small and power forward position.

Shooting: Not so much of a three point shooter - but has the ability to score from beyond the arch. The strength to become a consistent outside shooter is where he can improve on.

Positioning: He understanding this area of the game the most, playing mostly in this area because of his height.

Mobility: Can catch the ball in traffic and catch difficult passes, very good lateral and vertical movement. Ryan's ability to defend on the perimeter has elevated his potential to play at the next level.

Defense: Good defender, can and will defend larger post players. Ability to defend and rebound a definite strength.

Basketball IQ: As a multi position player Ryan understands multiple positions on the court offense and defense.

Fundamentals: Playing against and with high caliber players is a platform where he has shown his understanding of the game. Still at the next level he will play more of the 3-4 position and must use techniques more than athleticism to be effective.

Potential: Ryan can definitely play at the next level any school looking to add a good quality player at the position should be looking at him.  Low DI - DII
