FUZE
LACROSSE TRYOUT’s WAS A BOOM!
by
Bernaldo Ormond
(NZone,
Chantilly, VA) Although it was a holiday
and school was out for the day it sure
seemed like class was in session for the
FUZE elite summer lacrosse club. BOOM,
to paraphrase means “pushing yourself
to the limit” is the motto for
www.thenZone.com, a new state of the art
indoor multi-sport (Lacrosse, Soccer,
basketball) facility. It was certainly visible and an
outstanding turnout of over 350 talented
boys’ lacrosse players pushing
themselves to the limit. Now, I have to be honest my roots
are writing about basketball, but my
son’s love for Lacrosse has compelled
me to write about this rising sport.I first introduced my son to this
sport at a young age and found myself
intrigued that it is basically a
combination of basketball and football. Read

Elite/Beyond the Lines Educational

(Patriot
High School, Nokesville, VA) January 14,
2012 - It
was a tense atmosphere in the Patriot
High School gymnasium, as the Patriot
Pioneers (PHS) was about to take on
their district rivals, the Battlefield
Bobcats (BHS) for the first time. The
Pioneers of course had the edge with a
home court advantage and the massive
student cheering section. Fans for both
schools rivaled each other throughout
the entire game, constantly showing who
could support their team the best.
However the noise did not get to the
Bobcats, who held onto the lead
throughout the entire game, even though
the Pioneers were never more than just a
few points behind.

by
Ali Ahmed, Crown Magazine (Canada)
(January
9, 2012) - With the winter holidays
coming to an end, high school players
are gearing up for strong second half
of the year. For one player though, it
is about maintaining a strong 2011
year and building on his game for what
looks to be an eventful 2012.
6-foot-3, 2013 combo guard Duane
Notice has been skyrocketing through
radars of many coaches due to the
spectacular season he’s having thus
far. His 22 PPG, 8 APG, 6 RPG and 4

ANNUAL TINA
THOMPSON "She Got Game
Classic" Recap
by
Thomas Gadson, Virginia Elite Hoops.com
- December 17, 2011
(Bishop
McNamara H.S./Forestville, MD) - This
was the third installment of the Tina
Thompson “She Got Game Classic"
presented by Keith Veney and the Veney
Management Group. The event featured
some of the premier players in the
country and some of the most talented up
and coming female basketball players
that college recruiters will surely want
to get on their radar. There were many
great plays made throughout the
tournament and the coaching was nothing
more than spectacular.
The
excitement leading into this year’s
field of players was more impressive
with new and returning players that we
were excited to see.
Throughout the
evening we were getting immediate
reactions from Keith Veney and Tina
Thompson as to how the players were
performing on the court and their
assessment of the level of competitive
competition between the players. Not
to mention the strategic chess match
between the coaches as early leads
dwindled or deficits turned into
victories.
Forest
Park Junior
guard Breyana Mason set tournament scoring record with
23 halftime points and a game high 39
points.

Annual McDonald's High School All American Games
from Columbus, Ohio
by
Sean Frye and Aaron Canada, VA Elite Hoops.com
Media - March 28-31, 2010
On
Wednesday, March 31, 48 of the nation's top high
school basketball players took the floor at
Value City Arena for the 2010 McDonald's All
American Games in Columbus, Ohio. The 33rd
annual Boys Game and the ninth annual Girls Game
had fans on their feet with two exciting
victories from the West (Girls Final 84-75, Boys
Final 107-104).
Day
One
of the McDonald's All American Game Week in Columbus, Ohio saw
players and coaches participating in their first team practices,
but not before taking a trip to visit kids and families at the
Columbus Ronald McDonald House and the Nationwide Children's
Hospital across the street. The purpose of the day's visit
was to allow the players to understand the true meaning behind
the McDonald's All American Games. more....
Day
Two of McDonald's All American Game Week
kicked off with the second full-team practices
at Ohio State's Recreation and
Physical Activity Center at 9am. The boys and
girls teams ran through more drills and play
scenarios in an effort to tighten up as a
collective unit in anticipation of Wednesday's
games. It's
well known that many former NBA players take an
interest in this week's events...more....
Day
Three
of McDonald's All American Game Week was just a light day to
wrap up the week's events before the players take to the
national stage Wednesday night for the two All American Games.
The third and final practice of the week kicked off the day at
9am, with more drills and play scenarios taking place to tighten
up each unit and go over any last minute adjustments that needed
to be made. Once again Larry Bird made an appearance on the
sidelines to view and analyze the abilities of the nation's top
talent. more....
Day
Four: The
fourth and final day of McDonald's All American
Game Week proved to be the most exciting, with
the two games taking place at Ohio State
University's Value City Arena. The big news
coming into the two contests was
the overnight development of an apparent
foodborne illness in Columbus, Ohio's own Jared
Sullinger. Sullinger, by his own admission, was
barely able to crawl out of bed the morning of
the games, and was considered a game-time
decision. more....
