The purpose of Virginia Elite Premier High School teams are to compete at the highest level of national grassroots basketball. Our coaching staff has the necessary qualifications, year of actual division 1 and professional experience and understanding of players physical, mental and game skill development, college recruiting, practice planning and execution and game preparation and game execution to foster positive results in elite competition. Our team of coaches has many hours of sports education, grassroots competition at the Elite level that enables our staff to expect nothing more than the best effort from our players.

COACHING APPLICATION  Any person seeking an opportunity to coach with Virginia Elite  must complete the coaching application. Our teams require the highest level of coaching and we seek the have experience, skilled coaches that are capable of teaching the game of basketball.  



Thomas GadsonTHOMAS GADSON Director of Basketball Operations and Recruiting Virginia Elite in 2008, the organization’s mission then and still remains the same, to choose top basketball talent, boys and girls 8-17 years of age in the Washington,D.C. area (Northern Virginia). 


A native of Savannah, Georgia, Thomas Gadson has been involved with basketball for more than 30 years, from his youth days playing basketball and football in the YMCA and Police Athletic Leagues (PAL) youth leagues in Savannah through high school and college. After high school he attended Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina which competes in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). 


After his freshmen year transferred and graduated from Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina. Mr. Gadson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a Masters in Computer Information Systems as well as several technical and professional management certifications As the director of Virginia Elite He is responsible for all aspects for program development.  


JAMEL "JB" BEARYMAN Coach Bearyman is a native of Flint Michigan, which is known for developing tough-minded athletes. He began playing basketball and golf at the age of 6. He started playing AAU basketball at the age of 12 and continued through high school. During these years, he developed the talent, toughness, and competitiveness to play along with other kids much bigger and stronger him.  

Coach Bearyman got involved with coaching basketball because of his passion for basketball and his passion to see young people succeed. Coach Bearyman believes hard work, discipline, respect, teamwork, and effort are the essentials to any team and he demands these from each player. “I have always said, you can teach a kid to play basketball, but you can’t teach a kid effort, that comes from within.” - JB

Coach Bearyman earned a scholarship to play Division I golf at Hampton University, where he played for four years. He also received multiple scholarships for golf, basketball, and track and field. Though golf was his focus in school, he continued to play intramural basketball while at Hampton. Coach Bearyman holds a bachelor degree in Computer Science from Hampton University and continues to play golf and basketball frequently.  

RODNEY CARMICHAEL Coach Rodney Carmichael from North Stafford, Virginia has extensive coaching experience from his Varsity Boys Summer League and Head Coach of a German Basketball team overseas "TG Sandhausen". Coach Carmichael served as Head Varsity Boys Assistant Coach at Middleburg Academy, Middleburg, Virginia and now serves are Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Marymount University, Arlington, Virginia.


Coach Carmichael provides elite level experience for player development. His specialty is developing point and shooting guard players ability. His years of playing college and professional basketball is a valuable asset to providing players the right information to compete at the Elite level of grassroots basketball.


Coach Carmichael played professionally overseas with the Winnipeg Cyclones, Germany Oberelshingen and holds a club record for three pointers within a single season (68pts). Before playing professionally Coach Carmichael led Norfolk State to 82-13 from 1994-97, Selected to Black College All-American team (1997), All-CIAA (1996-97) and completed his collegiate career scoring over 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.


ANTHONY PRINGLE Coach Pringle is a native of Alexandria, VA and is the current Head JV boys and Assistant Varsity Coach at Pope John Paul the Great (Dumfries VA). He is a US Army veteran of 8 years and a two-time Iraqi War vet. Coach Pringle loves to teach and is known for his offensive mind and scouting abilities. Coach Pringle holds a associates in applied sciences (religious studies) from Wayland Baptist College. He is currently attending George Mason University to receive his Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice. November 2013 Coach Pringle was licensed as an ordained Minister.  

Coach Pringle played his freshman year of high school at T.C. Williams (Alexandria, VA) for then Head Coach Chavez Mabry. He played his next 3 years at Potomac Senior High School (Dumfries, VA). He was a part of two state-run teams, 2004 state runner-up 29-1, and 2005 state semi-final 26-1. Coach Pringle thru high school and AAU played with and against players like Kevin Durant (NBA), Percy Harvin (NFL), Tyrese Rice (Boston College 2006), Eric Hayes (Maryland 2010) and Ty Lawson (NBA) just to name a few.


MAURICE "Mo" HUBBARD Coach Hubbard was born in Cleveland, Ohio but was raised in Northern Virginia. Coach Hubbard attended Westfield High School where he lettered all 4 years. During his time at Westfield he led the Bulldogs to two Concorde District titles.  His accomplishment included first team all-district and all-region from his sophomore to his senior year. Upon graduation Coach Hubbard departed Westfield as their all-time leader in points, rebounds, and blocks. During the summer of 2005 and 2006 Hubbard attended the prestigious Reebok’s ABCD for the nation’s top 150 high school prospects.

While at Westfield High School, Coach Hubbard received many Division I scholarship offers. He decided to commit to Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. He played two years at Ball State University before transferring to University of South Carolina-Aiken (USC-A) to finish is Collegiate Career. At Ball State, he helped lead the Cardinals to two (2) MAC West Championships. While at USC-A Coach Hubbard helped the Pacers win two regular season championships, conference tournament championship, two Division II NCAA appearances and an Elite 8 appearance.

Coach Hubbard graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication with a minor in Marketing. He is the son of former National Basketball Association (NBA) player and current Golden State Warriors Assistant Coach Phil Hubbard. Coach Hubbard has been around the game of basketball his entire life and will pass on his knowledge of the game to the Virginia Elite players.  

Mike Askew Coach Michael R. Askew is an alumnus of Virginia State University with a Bachelor Degree in Sports Management. Coach Askew played 4 years of collegiate basketball as a shooting guard standing 6’4 receiving numerous awards beginning with All Rookie to ending his career receiving All Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).

After graduating Coach Askew played professional basketball in Yucatan Mexico. Coach Askew is also the President of “A-Team Basketball Program” based in Woodbridge, VA.    

Jason Evans II Coach Jason Evans II, former Nike Basketball Trainer Specialist with Gannon Baker , Washington Sports Club and currently provide training for college, high school and aspiring basketball players. Coach Evans played professionally in Europe and captured the European Championship. A native of Northern Virginia Coach Evans played at Hayfield High School where he was selected All-State, Region and District.



James Fleet James Fleet, DMVElite West Director joins Virginia Elite Coaching staff as Head Coach of the Virginia Elite 14U Elite Team. Coach Fleet has been part of DMVElite for several years primarily focused on extending DMVElite brand of high school camps, clinics and showcase events in the western parts of Maryland and Virginia such as the DMVElite Freshman Showcase, DMVElite West H.S. Showcase and other events.  


Because of his extensive visibility throughout the Washington, D.C. market and his keen evaluation of talent Virginia Elite is very fortunate to have his experience as part of our continued development of the program and coaching staff. Coach Fleet also be involved with player development for all Virginia Elite players and along with Coach Mike Askew (13's) and Jay Metzler (14's) they will continue to expand on the foundation of the program.
